Reporting a problem in San Diego County
If you are worried about care right now, you do not have to wait. Three channels handle nursing home concerns:
California Department of Public Health (CDPH). CDPH licenses and inspects skilled nursing facilities and investigates complaints. File online through Cal Health Find, which routes to the San Diego County district office, or contact that office directly. A serious complaint can trigger an on-site inspection.
San Diego County Long-Term Care Ombudsman. A free advocate who will visit your loved one, look into your concerns, and press the facility on their behalf, often faster than a formal state complaint. Reach them at Aging & Independence Services on (800) 640-4661.
