The operators vary widely, and the spread is the point.
Among operators running at least 10 California nursing homes, HumanGood has the highest mean CMS overall rating: 4.50 stars across 10 rated homes, 0% of which rate one or two stars. Pacific Healthcare Holdings has the lowest mean in that cohort: 1.87 stars across 15 rated homes, 73% of which rate one or two stars.
These figures are taken from public CMS Care Compare records as of August 2026 (the August 2026 release) and public CDPH records as of June 2024 (the state enforcement dataset of August 27, 2024).
