There are a number of ways in which to insure that elder care facilities are held responsible for abusive and negligent care. It starts with a complaint filed by the victim or their families so that an investigation will be conducted by their local Ombudsman, the Department of Health Services Licensing and Certification, and/or Adult Protective Services. The Ombudsman conducts investigations into complaints filed regarding nursing home abuse and neglect in Sonoma County. In addition, the Ombudsman offers services to long-term care residents of Sonoma County, including helping with such issues as quality of care, residents’ rights, and finances.
Department of Health Services Licensing and Certification Office
When Sonoma County nursing home residents have been abused or neglected and complaints are filed, the Department of Health Services Licensing and Certification office conducts an investigation.
